Robin Raikkonen, son of former driver and 2007 Formula 1 champion Kimi Raikkonen, was officially announced as a new member of the Red Bull Junior Team. The young Finn will be part of Red Bull’s driver development program starting in 2027, beginning a new stage of his career with a team that has already revealed several names to F1.

The driver built his career in Karting from his early childhood years and has already achieved results in national and international championships in the Rotax and WSK categories. For Red Bull, this background, combined with the performance shown on the tracks, placed Robin among the most promising young talents of his generation.
Laurent Mekies highlighted these very characteristics when commenting on the Finn’s arrival to the program: “His speed, racing ability, and natural talent have made him one of the most promising young drivers of his age group. At the same time, he impresses with maturity, a calm approach, and clear focus on driving,” said the Red Bull Racing chief.
Mekies also explained that the priority will be to allow gradual development without creating unnecessary pressure: “Our goal is to develop him step by step, without putting any unnecessary pressure on his shoulders. The path in motorsport is long, and we will give him the time, support, and resources needed to maximize his potential,” he added.

Kimi Raikkonen also celebrated his son’s choice and praised the work presented by Red Bull during the negotiations: “We are all very happy and excited that Robin has been chosen to continue his racing path as a member of the Red Bull Junior Team,” he stated.
The former driver also highlighted the tradition of the program, which had Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen among its members: “It is with great humility that Robin enters this illustrious program, and he will dedicate all his efforts to justify the trust that Red Bull is placing in him,” he added.
