Charles Leclerc still does not have a guaranteed presence on the grid for the Madrid GP, which will be held next weekend. The Ferrari driver will need to undergo further tests after the serious accident suffered during the Italian Grand Prix in Monza last Sunday (6).

The Monegasque went off track on the second lap when he lost control of the SF-26 at the entrance to the Parabolica. The car hit the tire barrier at high speed, causing the race to be stopped with a red flag so that the damage to the protections could be repaired.
Leclerc managed to leave the car on his own and was taken to the medical center. Initially, no injuries were identified and the driver was authorized to leave the site. Still, Ferrari and Leclerc himself prefer to exercise caution before the next stage. The driver revealed that he will undergo additional tests before traveling to Madrid.
“First of all, I think I will still have to undergo some extra tests. We will probably do this on Sunday night or Monday to ensure that I am 100% fit for Madrid. It should be the case [that everything is fine], but yes: it is better to be safe than sorry.”

Leclerc experienced a temporary change in vision after the impact. He managed to drive back to the hotel after the race but said that initially he could not see normally, especially with his right eye. “My vision was a bit reduced at first. Especially with the right eye, I was not seeing well, but now everything is fine.”
Ferrari also intends to understand exactly what caused the off-track excursion. The behavior of the SF-26 drew attention because the car seemed to suddenly and unexpectedly slip while Leclerc was battling for position with Oscar Piastri: “I think I noticed a slight difference in power delivery from lap 1 to lap 2. We will investigate this, but I don’t want to say much before we analyze the data and can confirm,” Leclerc concluded.
