Alpine, however, filed a request for review related to Gasly’s two penalties for speeding in the pit lane. The initiative was accepted, returning third place to the Frenchman and temporarily removing Hadjar’s podium.

Red Bull and McLaren then appealed to the International Court of Appeal, the highest legal authority in FIA-backed motorsport. After a hearing held in August, the decision announced on Friday (04) ordered the restoration of Gasly’s penalties, officially placing Hadjar back in third.

The result secured Hadjar his first podium for Red Bull and the second of his career: “It’s great to have the podium back,” said the Frenchman, who also highlighted the importance of having the result officially recorded.

“I always said that you could never take away from me the feeling of being on the Monaco podium, regardless of the result, but having it officially in the record books is even more special,” added Hadjar.

The driver also thanked Laurent Mekies and the team for their work in the process: “A big thank you to Laurent and the team for fighting hard off the track to recover this, my first podium with these colors,” he concluded.
