Gabriel Bortoleto finished the Australian GP within the points zone. In this Sunday’s (8) dynamic race in Melbourne, the Brazilian crossed the finish line in ninth and broke a major milestone for Brazil by starting the 2026 season in the top-10.

The Audi driver lined up on the Melbourne grid in tenth place. When the lights went out, he even lost a few positions, but soon managed to recover and throughout the race, stayed either within or close to the points.
Then, at the checkered flag, he managed to cross the finish line among the top ten finishers. Therefore, he makes history with the team by achieving the debutant’s first points in Formula 1.

But not only that, Gabriel also brings a milestone for his country by being the first driver to start an F1 season within the points zone since 2017 with Felipe Massa.
At the time, the competitor, who raced for Williams, was sixth in the same Australian GP. That was Brazil’s last year on the grid until Bortoleto’s debut in 2025 – at Albert Park, he retired due to rainy conditions.
