Fernando Alonso gave another hint about his future in Formula 1, saying it depends much more on the current regulations than on the Aston Martin car itself.

The Spaniard has not yet announced whether he will continue in the category after his contract ends at the end of the 2026 season. This year, with a performance well below expectations, he managed to score only three points in 12 races.
Therefore, at the start of media activities in Monza, when asked once again about his future in F1, the two-time world champion pointed out that “it’s not exactly about the car. I am and will continue to be professional, working with 100% dedication, whether fighting for 15th place or for a podium.”

“But for me, the main issue is the regulations. Unfortunately, that’s the situation. This is not the Formula 1 we grew up with, nor the Formula 1 that all of us, drivers and spectators, want. So, you know, we need to change some things. This won’t happen immediately; it’s something for the future. But I hope to be able to contribute in some way to the next regulations and that we can return to true Formula 1,” he added.

“I think I’ll be motivated until I’m 80 or 90 years old,” he finished, laughing.
