Red Bull Racing has not yet decided who will be Max Verstappen’s teammate at the Italian Grand Prix in Formula 1. The team intends to wait until Wednesday (02) to understand if Isack Hadjar has recovered from his wrist injury.

This decision will only be made when there is a clearer assessment of the Frenchman’s physical condition. Meanwhile, Liam Lawson remains available to replace Hadjar again if he is not fit to drive the RB22 in Monza.
Hadjar missed the Dutch GP after suffering a wrist fracture during the category’s break. Lawson was chosen by Red Bull to replace him, while Yuki Tsunoda took his place at Racing Bulls, and both drivers had positive performances in Zandvoort, with Lawson finishing 7th and Tsunoda 11th.
After the weekend in the Netherlands, Hadjar’s recovery became decisive for Red Bull’s lineup in the race in Italy. During the event in the Netherlands, the Frenchman stated that his wrist was no longer swollen and that he was gradually regaining movement, as well as expressing hope to return to the car in Monza. The team also indicated that it was working with the possibility of his return.

However, Red Bull chose not to take risks with the injury in Zandvoort. Hadjar even considered the possibility of driving while injured but received recommendations not to rush recovery, including from Marc Márquez, multi-champion in MotoGP.
Until a decision is made, Lawson will remain prepared for a new opportunity alongside Verstappen, after starting eighth and finishing the Dutch GP in seventh position.
