McLaren announced a multi-year deal that keeps Norris with the team at least until 2030. According to reports cited in the source, the Briton will start earning £30 million per year, ranking only behind Hamilton and Verstappen on the 2026 grid, both associated with salaries exceeding £50 million.

Commenting on the renewal, Norris highlighted his identification with the team. “McLaren is my home, and I’m very happy to sign a new contract to stay with the team at least until 2030. When I started this journey nine years ago, I made it clear that I wanted to put McLaren back at the front and win championships. We achieved that, but we want more.”

Asked by The Telegraph about speculation that he could reach the same figures as Hamilton and Verstappen, Norris admitted that this has not happened. “I feel I should earn as much as they do, but it’s certainly not close to the numbers I’ve seen on the internet, unfortunately,” he said.

The Briton acknowledged that he has not yet built a resume comparable to the two champions. “I shouldn’t be at the level of Lewis or Max because I haven’t achieved as much as they have in their careers. But, on the other hand, I believe I should be, because I feel I can fight against them when needed and do a better job when necessary.”
