The plans were to start the next championship in the region – although the dates have not been released, Australia will no longer be the first race.
According to information from the specialized site The Race, the Chinese GP appears as the best option to take the spot if it is not possible to go to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia – both races were canceled in 2026 due to tensions.
Not only that, the portal also reported that F1’s plans were to start the 2027 calendar on March 14 in Sakhir, followed by Jeddah. This made a double round and then a triple round with Melbourne, Suzuka, and Shanghai.

Australia cannot be the venue for the season opener, as the circuit is undergoing several renovations – in the pit building area, and nothing will be ready enough to host the category. Therefore, China would be the option to be the first stage, then Japan and Australia on the previously scheduled date.
Formula 1 continues to monitor the unfolding war and the decisions between the United States and Iran. The expected date for Liberty Media, the FIA, and FIA to finalize the end of the 2026 season and the start of 2027 is by September 15.
