Isack Hadjar received important advice from Marc Marquez before deciding not to compete in the Formula 1 Dutch GP. The multiple MotoGP champion and current Ducati rider in the category recommended that the Frenchman not risk his recovery for just one race.

Hadjar suffered a small wrist fracture during a boxing training session and ended up out of the Zandvoort round. Liam Lawson was called to replace him, while Yuki Tsunoda took Lawson’s place at Racing Bulls, and the expectation is that Hadjar will be recovered for the Italian GP in Monza.

During the weekend in the Netherlands, reports from the French press indicated that Hadjar had sought out Marquez for guidance. The Spaniard, who has accumulated complicated experiences with injuries throughout his career, confirmed the contact this Thursday (27), during the MotoGP Aragon GP.

“Hadjar got in touch with me. I’m not a doctor, of course, but it was just to ask for advice, because sometimes, for a driver, or a car driver in this case, it’s very difficult. Sometimes you feel like maybe you can,” Marquez told the official MotoGP site.

The seven-time MotoGP champion recalled that his own experience showed the consequences of returning too soon. After the serious right arm injury suffered in 2020, Marquez underwent four surgeries and missed that entire season, as well as continuing to face physical problems afterwards.

“I learned in the past that missing one race will not change your life. Missing one race, or worsening your injury because you came back too soon, can change your life,” he added.
Marquez concluded by saying that his life has changed a lot since the injury in Jerez and assessed that Hadjar made the right decision by prioritizing recovery, as he has a long career ahead.
