Alpine confirmed Franco Colapinto’s stay for the 2027 Formula 1 season in a fun video on social media featuring Flavio Briatore and Pierre Gasly.

After making his grid debut in 2024 with a chance at Williams, the Argentine joined the French team in 2025, first as a reserve driver and then replacing Jack Doohan mid-season.
At the end of last year, he renewed his contract for 2026 and now it has been confirmed that he will continue for another campaign with Alpine. Gasly had already been renewed for another year in Formula 1 with the team.
“I am very happy to stay with this team in 2027. I feel very happy and well adapted here, and it is even better that we have made significant progress this year compared to the previous one. We have many other goals to achieve, and I know the team is working hard to seek performance and make the car better and better,” said Franco.
“Our long-term goals are clear, to compete and win, and I thank the team, Flavio, and Steve for the trust placed in me to be one of their drivers in the future. I look forward to seeing how things will unfold and am focused, above all, on my work on the track,” he added.

Briatore stated that “we are very happy to confirm our driver duo for 2027, with Franco remaining as the main driver alongside Pierre. For me, consistency is key. We already have our driver situation defined and I have always said that, although this is an important piece of the puzzle, the most crucial aspect we need to get right is the design and construction of a fast racing car, which remains, without a doubt, our number one priority.”
“We have seen Franco really evolve and mature, becoming a great driver this year. His results in Miami and Montreal, especially, confirmed what I already knew: Franco has a place in Formula 1 and in this team. I hope both Franco and Pierre continue doing a fantastic job on the track and that the whole team works tirelessly until we are competing and winning at the front of this sport,” he concluded.
Through social media, Alpine published a fun video involving the two drivers and the Italian executive. In it, in a meeting room, they bring a board with Gasly and Colapinto, Briatore questions and says that the two will continue in 2027 ‘to save money’ and not have to do a new paint job.
