Craig Skinner, former head of design at Red Bull Racing, is in advanced negotiations to join Cadillac. The Briton was responsible for the cars that brought Max Verstappen the Formula 1 titles in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

The American team is looking to strengthen its structure in the short term and has been seeking high-level professionals to increase the competitiveness of its still young organization. According to GPblog, Skinner is pointed out as one of the names that could join Cadillac’s project after the mandatory cooling-off period.
Skinner spent about twenty years at Red Bull Racing and held, in recent years, the positions of head of aerodynamics, and later, head of design. In this last role, he succeeded Adrian Newey in Verstappen’s team and was directly involved in the development of the cars that dominated Formula 1 for three consecutive seasons.

This partnership between Skinner and Red Bull ended abruptly earlier this year, but the reasons for his departure were never officially disclosed. At the moment, the designer is serving the so-called ‘gardening period,’ and when this restriction ends, he will be able to start a new job.
Cadillac was not the only team to show interest in the experienced designer. Alpine also reportedly approached Skinner, but according to GPblog, the Briton is inclined to choose the American team. For Cadillac, the hiring would represent a major reinforcement and further highlight the ambition of the project, if the agreement is finalized.
