“It was a reasonable qualifying session today. The session went smoothly and we are roughly where we expected in the pack, but we lacked a bit of performance. I believe P3 was within our reach, but we are still learning with every lap with these new cars, so there was still track time to be explored. It’s a good base to build on, and we’ll see what we can do to reach the podium tomorrow,” Piastri stated.
The Australian driver reinforced that every lap with the new generation cars represents a learning experience, both in terms of performance and in tire and energy management, central challenges of the 2026 season. Despite not reaching third place, Piastri highlighted that the team already has a solid base to evolve during the race.
