Max Verstappen will continue at Red Bull Racing until at least the end of the 2030 season, and the team acknowledges that it will have a great responsibility to match the confidence of the four-time world champion. The team principal, Laurent Mekies, highlighted the weight of the commitment confirmed during the Dutch GP weekend.

The renewal ends months of speculation about the future of the Dutch driver, who had been linked to other teams and even a possible retirement from Formula 1. Verstappen’s decision comes as Red Bull has lost ground in the current pecking order and has yet to win a GP in the current technical regulations cycle.
Mekies described the deal as ‘phenomenal’ news for Red Bull, for F1, and for the sport in general. According to the team principal, Verstappen’s decision represents a show of confidence that cannot be taken lightly.
“With this confidence comes a huge responsibility to match it and be able to give him the best package in the coming years,” Mekies said. The executive also explained that Verstappen represents much more to Red Bull than just their lead driver, being considered the central point of the team and a reference in strategic decisions.

For Mekies, the Dutchman’s stay also completes one of the pillars needed for Red Bull to build a winning cycle again: “Certainly the driver side is now resolved,” he said, adding that the team trusts the talents in Milton Keynes and the strategic decisions made to regain competitiveness.
The executive also mentioned the investments and resources available in Milton Keynes as part of this process: “I’m referring to many, many of the fun things we have in Milton Keynes, with the wind tunnels and some other secrets,” Mekies concluded.
