New Cadillac team principal, Marcin Budkowski, stated he is satisfied with the partnership with Ferrari and the performance of the power unit supplied by the Italian team. The executive intends to take advantage of the Dutch Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend in Zandvoort, to talk with partners and Formula 1 authorities.

This week, Budkowski visited Cadillac’s headquarters and plans to meet with partners in Zandvoort, including Ferrari. Despite satisfaction with the current agreement, one of the challenges will be to define how long the American team will continue using the Italian engines, as Cadillac intends to become its own power unit supplier.
Commenting on his experience with customer teams, Budkowski said: “Yes, I mean, I also have experience working with a factory team, and that is what this team will become in a few years, when the time is right and when we have a bit more clarity also about where we are going with engine regulations, which is challenging at the moment.

“But I hope to have some discussions already this weekend with the higher authorities of the sport to get updated, because I haven’t been involved in these discussions for some time, to understand the direction. But we are happy with the relationship with Ferrari, and the power unit is competitive. I think the relationship is going well. So, for now, that’s how we are set up, and we are happy with Ferrari as a partner.”
Cadillac is still seeking its first points in F1. The team is facing a difficult moment, with the car experiencing overheating problems in several races.
