The FIA has set the date for the hearing on the appeals filed by McLaren and Red Bull Racing against the removal of Pierre Gasly’s penalties at the Monaco GP. The case will be reviewed next week in Paris and could once again change the final classification of the race in the Principality.

This hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. local time on Tuesday, August 25, after the Formula 1 Dutch GP. Both teams contest the decisions that allowed Gasly to regain third position after one of the five-second penalties applied to the Alpine driver was annulled.
Gasly had received two five-second penalties for speeding in the pit lane. During the review request made by Alpine, however, it was found that the length of the pit lane had been measured incorrectly. The average speed used in the calculation had been determined by an equation involving speed, distance, and time, instead of a measurement based on a single entry or exit point.
The information was considered ‘new and relevant’ to meet the criteria required in review processes, as well as not being available to the stewards at the time of the original decision. Since Gasly had already served one of the penalties during a pit stop, the removal of the second penalty allowed him to regain third place after having dropped to seventh in the final race classification.

This change in the stewards’ positioning directly affected drivers from Red Bull Racing, McLaren, and Racing Bulls. Isack Hadjar dropped to fourth, Oscar Piastri moved up to fifth, and Liam Lawson finished sixth, while Gasly advanced to third position.
McLaren and Red Bull filed the appeals on June 16, specifically contesting the decisions that removed Gasly’s penalty and reinstated him in P3. Mercedes also considered actions after George Russell’s penalty but decided not to proceed. The hearing will not be open to the public or the press.
