Four-time champion Max Verstappen stated that he intends to make the most of the last Dutch GP in Zandvoort on the Formula 1 calendar. The Red Bull driver will once again have the support of the home fans, while the circuit prepares for its farewell to the category.

“It’s my home GP, so I will definitely enjoy it a lot,” said Verstappen. “I hope in the driving! At least a little more than this weekend [Hungary], at least. I mean, I just want to enjoy it with the fans.”
The Dutch GP will leave the calendar after this weekend’s race. To mark the occasion, Verstappen and Red Bull will use special helmets inspired by the country, with the traditional orange color also featured on the team’s overalls.
The Dutchman also recalled that the circuit will continue to host other categories and track days, even without Formula 1: “It’s going to be amazing to see the fans. Ok, we won’t have another Formula 1 Grand Prix there, but there are many other categories that still race there, and if you want to do a track day, the track won’t disappear. So, for me, I will still have fun driving there, just not in Formula 1, but that’s fine.”

Back on the calendar in 2021, Zandvoort kept its fast and narrow layout, as well as reduced runoff areas, with gravel and grass close to the track.
“It’s incredibly impressive what they did to bring it back, and I think, at the time they hosted the first one, it was a great example for many other Grands Prix also on how to host and entertain,” Verstappen added.
