Gunther Steiner does not rule out a return to Formula 1 in the future, although he certainly does not see himself taking on the role of FIA president, currently held by Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

Before joining Haas, the Italian worked between 2001 and 2003 at Jaguar Racing, before moving to Red Bull between 2005 and 2006. Since 2014, he has been with the American team until his departure in 2024 – today, he is CEO and one of the owners of Tech3 in MotoGP.
A return to the F1 paddock, therefore, is not ruled out by Steiner, but the executive made it quite clear that never at the helm of the FIA, joking that Sulayem will never leave the role.

“I think the current president will stay there forever, so I have no chance, even if I wanted to. And I am very happy not to be the next FIA president. I don’t think I would be a good FIA president,” he said on the Up to Speed podcast.
