When asked which fan base he received the most virtual attacks from during his career, he said, “this is easy! The Dutch fans who didn’t like me questioning Max Verstappen. Actually, they weren’t just Dutch; there were people from other countries too. ‘Death to Herbert.’ They were the worst. They accuse me of being biased. They still do that with Martin Brundle.”

Herbert also dismissed that he favors Hamilton and that, despite being British like the seven-time champion, the analyses are objective. “They say: ‘You are biased in favor of Lewis Hamilton.’ Well, we are British, and Lewis is British! You are Dutch and support Max; you say we are biased, but you want us to support Max. You can’t want both.”

“Of course we will support a British driver, but our analysis is objective. We were also impressed with the ‘Flying Dutchman.’ If England were playing against the Netherlands in football, of course I would support England,” he concluded.
