Kimi Antonelli revealed how the Formula 1 summer holidays are necessary in 2026 to be able to rest and recharge for the second half of the championship.

The Italian currently leads the standings with a 50-point advantage over Lewis Hamilton and 59 points ahead of teammate George Russell. In 11 rounds, he has won six times and been on the podium nine times.

“Well, I feel this break is necessary, because it has been almost eight months of intense pace… I mean, looking back, I think I started activities on January 3rd this season, so it has all been very rushed,” he said.

“To be honest, before Miami it was like that too; after Japan, I thought: ‘My God, a four-week break’. I came from Japan with momentum and a win, so I thought: ‘My God, I might end up losing the rhythm’, because four weeks is a long time. But I remember that when I arrived in Miami and did TL1, I felt very good in the car and thought: ‘Ok, maybe I haven’t lost the rhythm’. So, I feel the momentum will continue,” he continued.
“I feel the break is necessary. To have a real rest, to be able to switch off a bit, although I’m sure that after three or four days, I’ll get bored and want to get back on track. Fortunately, where I’m going there is a kart track, so I will definitely train. But, on the other hand, I feel it’s necessary to disconnect a bit, go out and enjoy time with family and friends. And recharge energy, both body and mind, to be ready for the second half of the season,” he concluded.
