2025 Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris believes he is driving at an even higher level this season. The Briton states that his evolution comes from the work done with his engineers and the constant pursuit of improving his performance.

The statement came right after the Hungarian GP, where Norris secured his first victory in 2026. The McLaren driver highlighted that the race was among his best performances in the category, mainly due to his ability to maintain a strong pace on a track where overtaking is considered very difficult.
He explained: “It was probably one of my best personal performances, in terms of driving. The fact that I managed to keep up with Oscar on this type of track, where it’s impossible to follow and impossible to overtake, I was eight tenths or something like that behind, I don’t know, for almost 40 laps. The fact that I managed to do that gave me confidence that I would win the race anyway, regardless of whether he stopped early or late or whatever. The pace advantage I had was huge.”
“I feel much more confident lately in how to extract performance, and I have worked a lot with my engineers to understand this car, because it certainly isn’t an easy car to understand and figure out how to drive consistently at the limit,” continued the driver, who also stated that he believes he is doing a better job than in the season when he won the championship.

“Although it kind of hurts me to say that because it doesn’t mean you just win, I feel like I’m doing a better job this year than last year, and I’ve been doing that for some time now.”
Norris highlighted that the good performances in Monaco, Silverstone, and Hungary show his evolution in the quest to extract the maximum from the car.
“I’m doing a better job, and that’s because I’m working in many different areas, some off-track with my team and some here on track as well. So, just working on as many areas as possible. Many small differences add up, and you see the result today.”
