The Circuit of the Americas (COTA) and Silverstone have stirred the Formula 1 backstage by indicating a collaboration between the two racetracks. The organizations of both circuits released an enigmatic publication, stating that they will ‘join forces’, with an official announcement scheduled for Wednesday, August 5.

So far, the purpose of the partnership has not been revealed. The North American circuit only confirmed that the details will be presented on the announced date, without previewing any information about the content of the initiative.
Located on the outskirts of Austin, Texas, COTA has hosted the US GP since 2012. The only exception was in 2020, when the race was not held due to calendar changes caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Silverstone, on the other hand, holds a historic place in the category. The British circuit hosted the opening race of the inaugural Formula 1 World Championship season in 1950 and has been part of the category’s calendar uninterruptedly since 1987 with the British GP.
For now, both COTA and Silverstone keep the content of the collaboration secret. The expectation is that the official announcement on Wednesday will clarify the meaning of the message that the two traditional circuits will ‘join forces’ and reveal the next steps of this joint initiative.
