The Brit started from sixth position, but as soon as the lights went out, the W17 was affected by anti-stall and the driver couldn’t get away, falling to the back of the pack. Over the course of the 70 laps, he then managed to recover to cross the finish line in seventh position.
Kimi Antonelli finished in third place and is now 59 points ahead of his teammate. But Russell’s problem at the start in Hungaroring, added to the retirement in Canada and the straight-line speed issues in Silverstone and Belgium, left Wolff almost resigned.

“It seems another problem happened with George. Apparently, he accelerated about 10%, the engine went to maximum, he took his foot off the accelerator and the car lost power,” he said.
“So, I am not at all happy with the errors that are happening, and that was the reason. After that, he drove very well; he easily overtook the other cars and recovered as many points as he could have recovered,” he added.
