Lando Norris starts on pole position for the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix of Formula 1. The McLaren driver will share the front row with Charles Leclerc after two penalties altered the result originally set on track.

Norris clocked 1min17s207 and beat Lewis Hamilton by just 0s012 in the fight for pole at the Hungaroring. The Ferrari driver had finished qualifying in second, but lost three positions for impeding Oscar Piastri during a fast lap and dropped to fifth place on the provisional grid.
Kimi Antonelli also received a three-place grid penalty for not sufficiently slowing down during a yellow flag period in Q3. The championship leader had secured fourth place, but moved to seventh position, behind George Russell.
With the changes, Leclerc moved up to second place, while Piastri and Max Verstappen will form the second row. Hamilton appears in fifth, followed by Russell and Antonelli. Isack Hadjar, Arvid Lindblad, and Nico Hülkenberg complete the top ten.

Gabriel Bortoleto will start from 14th position. The Brazilian advanced to Q2 after reacting to the exclusion of a lap for track limits in Q1, but could not keep up with the evolution of his rivals in the second part of the session. His Audi teammate, Hülkenberg, reached Q3 and secured tenth place.
