The Italian has had a tendency to exceed track limits when in a more uncomfortable position, something he did twice while leading the Belgian GP.
This has been his biggest weakness in the championship, and the classification leader recognized that he needs to stop this tendency. Even his father is making ‘threats’, in a joking tone, for him to ‘get in line’. “Yeah, I think you guys know I like to use the track, sometimes, a little bit beyond the limit. So, it’s something I’m trying to work on,” he said.

“Recalling Spa, those two track limits infringements were very stupid. I thought: ‘What the hell am I doing?’ But something similar happens in Barcelona and Miami too. I feel it’s something I definitely need to improve, because sometimes, in a race, I might need to use those limits,” he said.
“But, you know, if I use them when I don’t need to, I can end up getting into trouble. So, for sure, it’s something I’m working on; and my father… one of the first things he told me after the race was: ‘Congratulations, but…’ — there’s always a ‘but’. He told me: ‘If I see you committing another track limits infringement for no reason, I’m going to stretch your neck like you’re a chicken’. Yeah, those were his words. It’s definitely something I need to work on,” he concluded.
