Oscar Piastri led the second free practice of the Formula 1 Australian GP in Melbourne, setting the fastest time of the session. The Australian put McLaren on top, followed by the Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli in second and George Russell in third, forming a top 3 dominated by Mercedes engines after Ferrari had led FP1.

Gabriel Bortoleto finished FP2 in 14th position with Audi, while his teammate Nico Hülkenberg was 12th. The Brazilian participated in a longer stint with medium tires during race simulations.
