Former Formula 1 driver Jolyon Palmer highlighted Red Bull’s evolution in the 2026 season and stated that the team’s recent performance represents “great news” for the team led by Laurent Mekies.

Max Verstappen’s podium finish at the Belgian GP, in Spa-Francorchamps, was further proof, according to Palmer, that Red Bull has regained its competitiveness. The RB22 began to show good performance on different types of circuits after a difficult start to the championship.
In his column for F1, Palmer highlighted the improvement in the car’s behavior: “The great news for Red Bull is that they seem to be competitive on a wide variety of circuits, which demand many different characteristics and needs from the car.”

The former driver recalled that, at the beginning of the season, the team faced balance problems and a lack of downforce. “At the start of the season, both drivers suffered from a lack of downforce, but also from a lack of consistency in balance not just lap to lap, but even corner to corner.”
According to Palmer, Red Bull has found its rhythm and arrived strong at Spa, a circuit that demands a lot from the car’s balance: “Now they seem to have found their rhythm and have already arrived flying at Spa with an impressive pace from the very first laps of practice, on a circuit where long, fast corners completely expose any uncomfortable imbalance in the car’s handling,” concluded the commentator.
