Lewis Hamilton left the Belgian Grand Prix with another concern besides the result on the track. The seven-time world champion, who finished the race in fourth place, will have to appear before the race stewards after an incident that occurred in the pits.

The situation gains importance because the British driver had already been penalized during the race. Hamilton received a five-second penalty for being deemed responsible for the collision with George Russell on the first lap.
The contact happened at Les Combes, when the front left wheel of Hamilton’s car hit the rear of Russell’s Mercedes W17. The impact sent the Mercedes driver into the gravel, causing his immediate retirement from the race.
This contact also prompted the safety car to come out in the early moments of the GP. Even after the penalty, Hamilton managed to recover throughout the race and crossed the finish line in P4.

Later, during a Virtual Safety Car period, the driver entered the pits to serve the five-second penalty and change tires. On leaving his position in the pit lane, however, he made slight side contact with a Ferrari mechanic.
According to the information released, the member of the Italian team did not suffer serious injuries. Still, the episode was considered enough to prompt further analysis by the FIA stewards.
As a result, Hamilton will have to provide clarifications after the conclusion of the Belgian GP. The decision on a possible new penalty will depend on the conclusion of the investigation opened due to the incident that occurred in the pits.
