Aston Martin showed little progress in the current Formula 1 season but once again faced difficulties in the qualifying session for the Miami GP and missed out on Q2. Technical problems and operational details limited the team’s performance.

The situation is concerning because, despite signs of progress, the team still cannot convert improvements into more competitive positions on the starting grid. The expectation now falls on the race, especially with possible changes in weather conditions.
Fernando Alonso finished the qualifying session in 18th, after being 15th in the Sprint race, and highlighted some advances but also new obstacles: “I felt that the performance improved a bit in qualifying compared to yesterday and the Sprint, and it’s a relief that the power unit vibrations have improved,” he said. The Spaniard revealed another problem: “Unfortunately, we had gearbox issues that limited us, so we need to understand that today and try to fix it for tomorrow,” he said.

Lance Stroll, who was 17th in the Sprint race and 19th in the qualifying session, pointed out difficulties on the decisive lap in Q1: “It seemed like we took a small step since the Sprint qualifying, but we had traffic on the last attempt and couldn’t get the tires in the ideal window, losing time there,” he said. He also emphasized that progress requires patience and continuous adjustments.
Both drivers indicated that Sunday’s race could bring opportunities, especially if it rains, as forecasted. Alonso highlighted that the team has not yet run on a wet track, while Stroll reinforced that the weather should directly influence everyone’s performance on the grid.
